CELEBRATION OF GRACE, HOMILY ON POPE SAINT JOHN PAUL II, HOMILY ON SAINT JOHN PAUL DE DREAT

HOMILY FOR 22 OCTOBER 2022 FEAST OF SAINT POPE JOHN PAUL II OR SAINT POPE JOHN PAUL DE GREAT (POPE OF THE FAMILY AND POPE OF MERCY)  Isaiah 52:7-10 Psalm 96:1-3,7-8,10 John 21:15-17 CELEBRATING THE GRACE OF GOD  Saint Paul tells us that we are the work of art of God; created in Christ Jesus to live the good life as from the beginning he had meant us to live it. But what is the good life? The man in the parable thought that the good life consisted in having plenty of good things accumulated for a life of luxury and comfort: Take things easy, eat, drink, have a good time, he says to himself.  But we are made for something greater than material wealth and earthly pleasures. St Paul says: God loved us with so much love that he was generous with his mercy: when we were dead through our sins, he brought us to life with Christ and raised us up with him and gave us a place with him in heaven. For we are made for life with Christ, for friendship with God, for an eternal rel...

HOMILY FOR 30TH SUNDAY YEAR C

HOMILY FOR 23 OCTOBER 2022 30TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR C  Sirach 35: 12-14, 16-18; Psalm 34: 2-3, 17-18, 19, 23; 2 Timothy 4: 6-8, 16-18; Luke 18: 9-14 THE TRUE ATTITUDE DURING PRAYER I pray for you: May you humbly come before God and lift up a sincere prayer to God, acknowledging your need for the help of God. AMEN I was struck when I read the following line from the Gospel of today: The Pharisee stood there and said this prayer to himself The phrase said this prayer to himself sends strong negative signal. The actual Greek words for the phrase to himself imply that he was not surrounded by anyone, that is, he was alone. But the particular English translation to himself can mean that, but it can also mean he prayed to himself. In a sense, the prayer of the Pharisee was a prayer to himself. He neither was in need the help of God nor was he praising God. He was praising himself and saying he was above everyone else and does not need the help of anyone, not even the help ...

AMEN It takes a lot of different events for growth to take place. Sometimes it just seems to happen, but if the right circumstances are not available, growth is not as full as it could be. This is very true for the spread of the faith and the building up of the Body of Christ, the Church.  Hear it now! The Church is not fully the Church if you are missing. According to the plan of God, we all play a role in making the Church what God calls it to be. Each one of us has been given his own share of grace, given as ...
